Skai Solutions costs NZ$325 a month for 500 minutes or NZ$649 for 1,500, plus a one-off NZ$545 setup fee. Month to month, no lock-in, 30 days notice, prices excluding GST. Extra minutes are NZ$0.87.
Prices above exclude GST. In New Zealand that adds 15%, so the Minimum Package is NZ$373.75 a month all up and Full Coverage is NZ$746.35. GST registered venues claim it back, so the plan price is the one that hits your P&L.
The number to compare it against is what a person costs. The adult minimum wage is NZ$23.95 an hour from 1 April 2026, and on top of that sits the 3% minimum KiwiSaver employer contribution, plus holiday pay and ACC.
Cover the dinner peak, 5pm to 9pm seven nights, and that is about 121 hours a month. At NZ$23.95 plus 3% KiwiSaver that is roughly NZ$2,990 a month, before holiday pay or cover for someone who calls in sick. Skai Solutions' own hours and arithmetic, shown so you can change the inputs.
The wider squeeze is real and specific to here. The Restaurant Association of New Zealand's 2025 Hospitality Report puts wage costs at about 40% of revenue on total industry sales of NZ$15.99 billion. When four dollars in every ten already goes to wages, a flat monthly cost that does not rise with a busy December is worth more than a cheaper plan that does.

Covers your full menu build, POS connection, voice tuning for your venue, and go-live support. Paid once, not monthly. This is the work that makes the difference between an AI that reads a script and one that knows your menu.
Prices in NZD, excluding GST. Month to month, no lock-in, 30 days' notice to cancel.
A restaurant call runs about two to three minutes - an order with a couple of modifiers, or a booking with a question about parking. On that basis:
| Plan | Minutes | Roughly | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| NZ$325 | 500 | ~165-250 calls a month | Covers a single venue's regular phone trade |
| NZ$649 | 1,500 | ~500-750 calls a month | Covers a full weekend rush - takeaway, pizza, high-volume venues |
Size to your busiest month, not your average. Your phone bill shows inbound volume. At NZ$0.87 a minute, overage adds up faster than the gap between the two plans-300 minutes over on the smaller plan costs more than simply being on the larger one. If you're consistently over we'll tell you and move you up rather than quietly billing it.
There are generic AI receptionists in this market from around NZ$97 a month. If your phone mostly carries enquiries - opening hours, "are you open Monday", supplier calls - one of those will serve you fine and cost a third as much. Buy that instead.
Skai Solutions costs more because it does a different job: it completes the order into your POS rather than taking a message, it knows your full menu including modifiers and sold-out items, and it's tuned for New Zealand speech rather than generic English. That only pays for itself if your phone carries transactions. Work out which yours is before you spend anything, and if it is mostly enquiries we will tell you on the call.
If you are still working out which kind of product you need, the AI receptionist guide covers what the category actually includes, what each tier costs, and who should not buy one. To judge this fee against your roster rather than against another vendor, see what labour should cost as a percentage of revenue, which the Restaurant Association of New Zealand puts at about 40%, and what no-shows cost on the same P&L.
Two numbers set the floor under this fee, and neither of them is ours. The adult minimum wage in New Zealand is NZ$23.95 an hour from 1 April 2026, per MBIE. And the Restaurant Association of New Zealand 2025 Hospitality Report puts wage costs at about 40% of hospitality revenue, on total industry sales of NZ$15.99 billion in the year to June 2025, up 1.4%. Set the NZ$325 plan against those: it is roughly 13.6 hours of minimum wage labour a month, or about 40 minutes a day.
Scale matters too, because it tells you who your callers are. Stats NZ business demography counts 9,858 cafes and restaurants and 7,422 takeaway food services in New Zealand, with 4,053 of the cafes and restaurants in Auckland alone. That is a market of small independents, not chains, which is why per site pricing here is month to month rather than an annual group contract.
Growth is not evenly spread either. The Restaurant Association reported regional sales growth of 15.1% in Nelson, 14.2% in Queenstown Lakes and 10.2% in Kaikoura, all places where a seasonal spike lands on a venue that has not hired for it. A phone that answers itself is worth more in a town whose trade triples for three months than in one that runs flat all year. If that is your venue, size the plan for January, not for June.

Bring your real call volume to a 30 minute demo and we will work through it with you. If what you are losing is less than the monthly fee, we will say so, and we would rather you found that out now than in month three.
